Carl Winter

Dr. Carl Winter is Director of the FoodSafe Program and a faculty member in the Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of California, Davis. While he is a serious food safety scientist with more than 100 publications and two books to his name, he’s more famous as the “Elvis of E. Coli” or the “Sinatra of Salmonella” due to his efforts to record, produce, and perform parodies of contemporary music to educate about food safety. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Food Technologists, the 2009 recipient of the NSF International Food Safety Leadership Award for Education and Training. He currently serves on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Food Advisory Committee.
