Team M-Cubed at the Nor Cal FLL Regional Championship (L to R) Coach Ashish Pandya, Hammad Bashir, Nishita Jain, Justin Voo, Simon Kim, Shefali Pandya and Ravi Pandya
This Nor Cal Champion’s Award winning team has an equation for success

What does a team do after winning  2nd Place Robot Design at last year’s Nor Cal Regional Championship? If you’re team M-Cubed and your motto is “Don’t give up and always keep trying” then the answer is simple: come back the next season even stronger and take it to the 3rd power!

I had the chance to talk with M-cubed recently at the Placer County STEM Expo held at William Jessup University in Rocklin. Team members gave FLL robot demonstrations at the event and also taught a FLL introduction seminar they created. Their three part instructional video is available to the public on their YouTube channel and they hope it will help inspire others to start their own FLL teams.

For their Body Forward project, team members told me that “We wanted to act globally and not think small.” They decided to tackle eye care, and while doing research were surprised to learn that  1.3 billion people worldwide can’t afford the eye care they need. Their innovative solution?  i2Eye.

M-Cubed (which stands for Machine Master Mind), credits their coach Ashish Pandya for much of their success.
“We are so grateful for his time and guidance” team members told me, ” He always wants us to make our own decisions, and has taught us to be independent and autonomous. ”

What’s next for M-Cubed? The team will be heading south to represent Northern California at the US Open Championship at LEGOLAND, May 20-22.
… I know they’ll do great, because this is one team whose sum outcome definitely equals success…. to the 3rd power!
