Tomorrowland

FIRST® LEGO® League teams are pretty excellent at solving challenges. Every year, we give you a new one to embark upon. But while you’re waiting for Global Challenge Release on Aug. 25, we wanted to let you know about an exciting new challenge from one of the supporters of our annual FLL Global Innovation Award presented by XPRIZE. You can win a free registration for TRASH TREKSM and lots of other amazing prizes.

Registration and submissions are open for Disney’s Create Tomorrowland – XPRIZE Challenge.  We invite U.S. students, 8-17, to imagine themselves in the future and report back to the present through a video, an image, or a story about one new and amazing invention or innovation they encounter, how it works, and the impact it has on the future.  Hurry!  All submissions are due by May 17.

What will transportation look like in the future?  What will architecture look like?  What will fashion and design look like?  How will we solve world hunger?  What does personal healthcare look like?  These are the questions you should be thinking about.

Submissions will be judged on their originality and creative expression; use of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) skills; and what people can now do to make the idea a reality.  A panel of expert XPRIZE judges will evaluate all the submissions and select the six winners (three winners from the 8-12 age group and three winners from 13-17 age group).

The six winners will each receive an amazing prize package that includes: a $3,000 check, a 3D printer from 3D Systems™, an IMAX theatre experience for up to 10 people, free registration for FIRST® LEGO® League, an annual subscription to Tales2Go®, a once-in-a-lifetime mentorship experience in June 2015, and more.  To learn more, please visit xprizechallenge.org/CreateTomorrowland.
