Inspiring TED Talks for young women interested in STEM

We’ve seen the statistics – women make up nearly half of the U.S. workforce, but are still underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. FIRST® strives to change this by engaging girls in grades K-12 through our progression of programs. Thanks to the help of Coaches, Mentors, Sponsors, and Volunteers, we’re seeing more young women pursuing degrees and careers in these fields.

We know there’s still a long way to go – and we understand the importance of encouragement and motivation – so in recognition of Women’s History Month, we’re sharing some inspiring, thought-provoking TED Talks from women in STEM:

Fei-Fei Li is the Director of Stanford’s Artificial Intelligence and Vision Labs:

Jedidah Isler is an astrophysicist, and the first African-American woman to receive a PhD in Astrophysics from Yale:

Cynthia Breazeal is the founder and director of the MIT Media Lab’s Personal Robots Group:

Reshma Saujani is the founder of Girls Who Code:
