Team 24584, The Mt. Zion BRAVES from Mt. Zion, IL, USA are passionate FIRST® ambassadors. The team, comprised of 8 students in grades 7 and 8, have been involved in FIRST® LEGO® League for 2 years. Their favorite part about participating in the program? All of it!  They love the Core Values, teamwork activities, building and programming the robot, and working on the Project.

Recently, the team hosted a LEGOPALOOZA [sic] event, where they demonstrated their Project, robot, and teamwork skills for an audience of 60 parents and kids that are involved in lower-level STEM groups in their school district, hoping to get them interested in being involved on the team in the future.

Eager to show people new to the programs what the experience is all about, the team put together stations for younger students to try their hand at some FIRST fun.

The event was a great experience and a very proud moment for the team and Janelle McCollum, the team’s coach.

“I love seeing the team show their excitement about FIRST LEGO League and teaching and inspiring younger children at the same time.”
