Heidi has been involved with FIRST since 2006 and has coached and co-coached award winning FLL and FTC teams. Her 2008/2009 FLL Climate Connection team (Lego Guards) was one of only six teams chosen (worldwide) to present their award winning project in Copenhagen at the Children’s Climate Action Summit. That project (Forest Guard – a wildfire detection system) won 1st place and is currently being implemented by SONY-Europe and the University of Nevada – Reno in Tahoe National Forest. SONY created a documentary about the team, their idea, and their journey, which was released globally. The FTC team (2848 Techno Guards) she co-coached with husband Alan LeVezu were 3 time NorCal State Champion Inspire Award winners and 2008 World Rockwell Collins Innovate Award winners, 2009 World Innovate nominees and 2010 World Inspire Award, Rockwell Collins Innovate and PTC Design nominees. Heidi is a professional artist and art teacher, the Tournament Director for NorCal Capital District FLL and on the planning committee for the Placer County STEM Expo.
