A team of Topic Experts and LEGO® Education staff from Denmark visit FIRST® Headquarters in Manchester, New Hampshire, each year to help develop the FIRST® LEGO® League and FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. Challenges.

The Challenge development process involves hours of internal research, interviews with the Topic Experts, field research, and more. We think this process is much like the task we present to teams annually. “In putting the Challenges together, we are basically embarking on a grown-up version of FIRST LEGO League because we are coming up with the problem we want the kids to solve, and the parameters around the Project,” says Jen O’Callaghan, FIRST LEGO League Jr. and FIRST LEGO League Community Engagement Manager.

All of that brainstorming and research makes the Challenge Advisory Team members hungry, and diner food is the hearty treat that some of our friends from LEGO Education choose to refuel with. Specifically, the Red Arrow Diner in Manchester is a favorite dining spot for the group.

In fact, the diner has had such an impact that it’s even referenced in the 2017/2018 HYDRO DYNAMICSSM Challenge! One of the season’s Mission Models gives a subtle shout-out to the Red Arrow Diner. We’re excited for you to see it – along with the entire HYRDRO DYNAMICS and FIRST LEGO League Jr. AQUA ADVENTURESM Challenges. In the meantime, you can learn more about the Challenge development process here.
